Meet the Founder

Alda Esco, designer and founder of Madre Luna was born in Guatemala and later moved to California. From traveling experiences with her mother and an eye for design back to her roots in Guatemala, she soon discovered this emerging passion complemented with the vision of creating an impact of fashion responsibility and creative lifestyle. Alda graduated from California State Polytechnic University and achieved a Bachelor's of Fine Arts in Design with a Minor in Marketing. She also is a graduate of ESIC Business Marketing School in Madrid, Spain with a Master Degree in Digital Marketing.

Alda develops her own style and seeks out inspiration in Mayan culture. She currently designs and produces her line of artisan boots and accessories in her studio in California. With a love and passion for unique accessories and leather crafting, Alda Esco founded Madre Luna in 2017 to recognize the importance of heritage, high quality and craftsmanship. Alda restates that "we want to support artisans towards economic independence by helping create social and economic opportunities through trading partnership with jobs and a Fair Trade model of business. We partner with cooperatives, small and independent artisans to help grow their businesses". With every purchase, you are supporting meaningful income opportunities for artisans and their families. This makes a difference and creates a positive impact.
